BOT Ballads

My role:

@ GUT Toronto Tinder’s new Face Check feature was designed to keep bots out of the app, but it ended up breaking their hearts. In response, they did what anyone would after a breakup: they wrote songs about it.

The result is Bot Ballads, an EP of six tracks across classic heartbreak genres: Angsty Pop, 80s Power Ballad, Emo, Pop, Country, and R&B. Each song is a bittersweet farewell from bots booted from Tinder.

The entire visual identity was inspired by the infomercials of 80s and 90s compilation albums. This retro aesthetic not only connects with the universe of those classic compilations but also highlights that, for Tinder, bots are outdated technology compared to the app’s advanced security tools.
